A large and very special jewellery box by Chris Busby that has lots of storage space. The tray is divided into 5 sections and the space beneath has 6.
It measures 315 x 200 mm and is 105 mm high.
For the lid panel I have used a centre piece of Oak burl veneer bordered by Cherry strips stained black and finished with a wide external border of mahogany. The box body is in West Australian Karri and the tray and dividers are in Jarrah. The pin striping around the sides of the box are Australian Oak.
The tray and inner base of the box are fitted with soft faux suede in a 'stone' colour.
Unique to Western Australia, the Karri is one of the tallest trees in the world growing up to 90 metres in height. The timber of the Karri ranges from a pale pink through to reddish brown. It is frequently used as a structural timber because of its availability in long straight lengths.
