Handmade in Western Australia by Chris Busby. The box features a Jarrah case and a decorative lid panel of Queensland Maple embellished with inlaid sections of Jarrah and American Maple.
The design of the outer lid panel is repeated on its underside. Corner keys in a contasting timber decorate all four corners of the box.
The box has a removable tray. Both the tray and the inner base are lined with upholstery fabric.
The lid is hinged such that it stops at just over 90 degrees and the overall dimensions of the box are 250 x 155 x 100 mm in height.
The box pictured is the one being purchased.
Queensland maple has long been appreciated for its striking pinkish wood used in many heritage homes, antique furniture pieces and other distinctive woodwork. It grows in the northern Queensland rainforests between Townsville and the Windsor Tableland. It is highly prized for use in furniture and fixtures.
With its beautiful rich colours, interesting grain and occasional gum veins, Jarrah remains one of the world’s most desirable and sought after hardwoods. The tree grows to a majestic 40 metres in height only in the south west corner of Western Australia.
