This is a beautifully proportioned document box in Jarrah and Blackwood and was handmade in Western Australia.
The Jarrah of the body works beautifully with the paler Blackwood veneer lid that features a subtle 'birds eye' effect.
The corners of the box are fitted with contrasting keys that provide an appealing visual effect.
The inner base is lined with burgundy coloured velour and the specialist box hinges hold the lid open at a little over 90 degrees.
Its measurements are 370 mm long x 270 mm wide and is 95 mm high.
The box pictured is the one being purchased.
This stunning timber radiates a subtle beauty that makes it irresistible to Australian furniture designers and other woodworkers. It boasts a variety of colours ranging from light Golden-brown to deep brown. It is easily worked, very stable and is long lasting.
With its beautiful rich colours, interesting grain and occasional gum veins, Jarrah remains one of the world’s most desirable and sought after hardwoods. The tree grows to a majestic 40 metres in height only in the south west corner of Western Australia.
