Another of my larger sized and very functional boxes that will enhance any room or office. The box is fitted with a divided tray and is made from Australian Oak (Victorian Ash) and Australian Red Cedar veneer in the lid panel.
Australian Red Cedar has a distinctive coarse grain and uneven texture with a good natural lustre. The inner lid panel is also veneered with Red Cedar.
The inner bases of the box and tray are lined with quality upholstery grade fabric.
The specialist box hinges hold the lid open at a little over 90 degrees to obviate the need for intrusive lid stays.
The box measures 300x185 millimetres and is 100 millimetres in height.
The box pictured is the actual box being purchased.
"Australian Oak" is a marketing name for several Eucalyptus hardwood species, most commonly Tasmanian Oak (from Eucalyptus regnans, Eucalyptus obliqua, and Eucalyptus delegatensis) and Victorian Ash (from Eucalyptus regnans and Eucalyptus delegatensis). It is a light-coloured timber, ranging from straw to pinkish-brown, with a straight grain prized for its strength, workability, and suitability for furniture, flooring, and joinery. As described here it is a eucalypt and not a true oak.
