A very attractive West Australian Jarrah keepsake box featuring a veneered lid panel of American White Oak.
The box inner base is lined with faux suede upholstery grade fabric. The lid is hinged such that it stops at just over 90 degrees to preclude the need for obtrusive lid stays.
Its dimensions are 200 x 120 x 90 millimetres high.
The decorative and eye-catching corner keys of the box are also in Oak timber.
The box pictured is the one being purchased.
With its beautiful rich colours, interesting grain and occasional gum veins, Jarrah remains one of the world’s most desirable and sought after hardwoods. The tree grows to a majestic 40 metres in height only in the south west corner of Western Australia.
White oak is one of the preeminent hardwoods of eastern and central North America. It is long-lived and found from Minnesota, Ontario, Quebec, and southern Maine south as far as northern Florida and eastern Texas.
